Observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today marks the 2nd annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, with "Remembering the Children" as the theme for 2022. The purpose of this day is to commemorate the lost children and honour the Survivors of residential schools. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is also a time to recognize the beauty and richness of Indigenous stories, history and culture and to amplify Indigenous voices.

Teaching Indigenous Peoples Culture and History has been historically underrepresented in the education world. This has left a large knowledge gap among non-Indigenous students, and has often created a lack of cultural safety for Indigenous students. As educators seek more equitable learning experiences, there has been a growing emphasis on building culturally inclusive classrooms.
