Commemorating the first issue of the newspaper the Globe as a daily (October 1, 1853), the scene on the front of this card was drawn by renowned historical artist C.W. Jefferys “depicts, with great attention to authenticity, the passerby who might be encountered on King Street in this period. George Brown, founder of The Globe, may be seen emerging from his offices with the morning's copy of his newspaper under his arm.”
