Did you hear? Kamal Al-Solaylee is the winner of the 2013 Toronto Book Awards with Intolerable: A Memoir of Extremes. It is his story of being gay and leaving his Arab life behind to pursue one in Canada free from religious and social stigmas. Literary Circle members were lucky enough to celebrate with him at the awards gala last month. For information on joining Literary Circle click here. He’ll also be attending the Book Lover’s Ball this year!
We are ecstatic to announce that sports columnist, radio host and (now) author Jeff Blair will be attending our Book Lover’s Ball on February 6th 2013. His book, “Full Count”, isn’t your average historical account of a baseball team, “Frankly, that’s been done.” Instead he digs deep into the franchise to talk about what we don’t already know.
Is your company looking for a way to treat their employees while also supporting the Toronto community? Last year’s ball was a big hit, local celebrities like Tracy Moore attended (and she hosted!) Visit our site for information on tickets and tables for the 2014 Book Lover’s Ball on February 6th. http://www.bookloversball.ca/
Last year’s Book Lover’s Ball raised over $530,000 and was the winner of the Canadian Events Industry Award for Most Outstanding Event. We are super excited for the next one on February 6th 2014 and want to thank Sun Life Financial for making it possible. http://www.bookloversball.ca/
Imagine knowing that your novel will be translated into 8 languages before it even hits the shelves. This is reality for our Book Lover’s Ball 2014 guest Vivien Shotwell and her future novel “Vienna Nocturne”, a novel about a young soprano who loved Mozart. Vivien’s career in creative expression doesn’t limit her to one platform; she is also a classically trained singer. Have a listen
