Espresso Granita This is a perfect after-dinner treat to have in the freezer when you need a little something. IT’S decadent with a dollop of whip cream or served over vanilla ice cream. It’s a fun dessert to entertain with using espresso cups and stress-free since it’s make-ahead.
If you plan to preserve lavender (for dried ) you’ll want to cut it before the buds have flowered so that the scent and colour stay within the bud. Dried bouquets are long-lasting, minimal home decor. No dead flowers after just a few days! Keep out of direct sunlight or the colour will fade. If you’re cutting fresh lavender, put the bouquet after it’s been cut from the plant in warm water that you change each day. It will only last a few days (like a fresh-cut flower).
If ever you’re in doubt about what is in season, look for the place of origin in the produce aisle and buy Ontario. Farmer’s markets are open and a quick visit will get you ready for the season. I we used to never miss a Tuesday Cabbagetown Market when the kids were young. And now, I love any roadside stand. Yup, it’s rhubarb time. And our radish seeds are planted. And our strawberry patch is flowering and looking promising.
