Graze. Islands are pretty much the central feature of every kitchen (and every kitchen party) in the Maritimes. Yes, it’s a cliché. But it’s true. In the original kitchen there was no island and I really wanted one so friends, family, and, in particular, our grandchildren, could sit at the island making ‘nature crafts’ as Emily calls them.
