take 4x4 (or) 6x6 pine posts and stain. Then cut to various heights and place lanterns on top. I saw something very similar at a highschool friends wedding but she used tree trunks instead of posts. They turned out AMAZING!

Beautiful for an outdoor ceremony at dusk: Instead of lining the aisle with flowers, lanterns lit the path to the altar. BUT you need many lanterns and bouquets, otherwise it'll look, well, measly.
