Idea-Quiet Critters - when you decide it's important for students to be quiet, pass out the quiet critters. Take them away from students who talk. At the end of the activity anyone who still has a quiet critter gets a prize, point, whatever you use.
Spin on sticker stories- Great writing center idea! Supply students with a box of stickers and handwriting paper. They choose 4 or 5 stickers, stick them on the paper and write a sentence about each sticker.
Put at writing center Tape 6 different MESSED UP sentences and glue them onto a tissue box. The kids “roll” the box, read the sentence, write it, and then revise it. Great for a writing center! (The tissue box dice thing is a great idea!
Homework club- If they turn all their homework in on time, then they get to stay in the club! If they don't then they are out of the club. Students who turn all their homework in for the entire month get to come to the monthly homework club lunch.
LOVE this coin sort for a center activity or assessment! This site has great ideas already made, ready to print out for special education students. A money sorting center would be perfect for any life skills or secondary special education task.
Spelling practice- beads and pipe cleaners. This would be good word work for sight words too. Or could hot glue pictures to end of pipe cleaners and have students spell the words for each picture using the beads.
Add duct tape to pencils to keep them from disappearing :) Colors can match the color of the table. Easy to see where pencils belong and all tables have enough. I swear my class eats pencils! I am going to color code my tables.
Language Art: Writing I would use this activity to engage students in the writing process. Fun for a writing center activity- Popcorn writing activity: students choose one yellow piece (character) and one white piece (setting) and write a short story.
