Parliament Buildings

These pictures were taken in 2007 before the 4 quasi-historical murals in the rotunda of the parliamentary buildings were covered up . These murals were painted by the artist Mr. G.H. Southwell, and presented to the Government in 1932 by the the Provincial Secretary at the time. The subject of these four murals depict scenes of what the artist called "...historical qualities necessary for establishment of a civilization:" Courage: The meeting of Vancouver and Quadra at Nootka Sound in 1792.
