Elegant still life composition consisting of a plate with a variety of apples, a dark green jug and a peacock feather. These elements are laid out on a draped fleur-de-lys patterned cloth that also serves as a backdrop. Elaine Katherine Grimshaw was a British painter. Born on 23 February 1877 in Scarborough (Yorkshire). She was the daughter of the famous painter John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836 - 1893), one of the best-loved painters who lived in the Victorian era.

Coppenolle was renowned for his floral oil paintings. Although influenced by the 17th century painters from the Netherlands, he was also aware of the growing fashion in France for garden flowers and more natural-looking flower paintings. His floral still lifes also show a clear Impressionist influence, emphasising the use of a colourful palette and a robust brushstroke.

Jean-Claude Bomboy – Still Life - 1857 Jean-Claude Simon Bomboy was a French painter and draughtsman specialized in the representation of still lifes of fruits and flowers. Born in Lyon on March 26, 1826, he studied at the School of Fine Arts in his hometown between 1841 and 1846, with Agustin Alexandre Thierriat (1789-1870). He worked as a draughtsman at the Grande Fabrique, Lyon’s silk manufacturers association. He exhibited regularly at the Salon de Lyon between 1853 and 1866. Fine Art, Antiques

Michel Fronti – Still Life with Hare – Circa 1900 Michel Gabriel Joseph Toussaint Fronti was a French painter and pastel artist, born in Marseille on November 3, 1862 and died in the same city on September 20, 1936. Son of an artist, he manifested a strong inclination for painting from a young age. He followed the usual route of painters from the south of France: École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille (studio of Eugène Lagier), then in Paris (under Jules Lefèbvre and Benjamin-Constant).

Jacques Delanoy, French decorator and painter, was born in Paris on September 4, 1820. A pupil of Dussance, Aclocque and Ferrey, Jacques Delanoy exhibited still lifes and landscapes in Paris between 1845 and 1883. He died in Paris on the 8th August 1890. Béla Balogh (1909-1980) was an autodidact Hungarian painter who specialized in still life compositions of fruit and flowers. Often that composition would consist of antique elements such as silver bowls, tankards, vases and ewers, or at times only a floral arrangement as the focal point of the painting. We have found little biographical information about this artist to date, but will continue researching.
