Medieval Andalusian Attire Picture: Illumination from the 13th-century manuscript Hadith Bayad wa-Riyad, from Islamic Spain or Ceuta, the hero Bayad is playing the ‘ud in the garden of the wealthy mistress of the house and her handmaidens, all of whom are unveiled and bareheaded except for the lady who wears a large golden taj.
