The medical innovators have bone to pick with conventional casts, as they want to replace plaster with a lightweight custom orthosis, 3D printed using scans of the patient's own limb. The high-tech orthoses are breathable, comfortable and much easier to clean. They also look cool, almost worth breaking an arm for!
