June 6th 1944 was D-Day, the day that would end Hitlers occupation of Europe in WW2.  The day that saw 175,000 American, Bristish, French, Polish, Norwegian, Dutch and Canadian troops land on the fields and beaches of Normandy, France.  It was a terrific victory, the beginning of Germany's defeat.

June 1944 is when the Battle of Normandy begins. It is also known as Operation Overlord, or D-Day. Allied troops land on the beaches of Normandy in France. The allied soldiers go through the Atlantic Wall and push inland.
